Ceniza del Volcán Turrialba beneficiará suelos

Un estudio realizado por el departamento de Ingeniería y Construcción del ICE, afirma que la ceniza lanzada en las últimas semanas por el volcán Turrialba puede beneficiar a los suelos del país con su alto contenido de calcio.

Los expertos analizaron la ceniza lanzada por el volcán y determinaron que aportará a los suelos componentes como azufre, calcio, potasio, magnesio, sodio, hierro, silicio y aluminio.

“El calcio es un elemento importante para la fertilidad de los suelos ya que contribuye a disminuir la acidez presente en los terrenos y a mejorar la absorción de otros nutrientes por las raíces de las plantas o cultivos”, dijo Miguel Chinchilla, agrónomo del ICE.

Por otra parte, los agricultores volvieron a sus fincas en las faldas del Volcán Turrialba, debido a que el lanzamiento de material desde el coloso ha cesado.

Asimismo, las autoridades reportan que las actividades turísticas han retomado su labor cotidiana.
