Capacitan niños para que cuiden suelos en Cartago

Seis centros educativos de Cartago forman parte de un proyecto de capacitación sobre cuido e importancia del suelo. Las escuelas y colegios involucrados conforman el proyecto Cosecha de Agua, que coordina la Asociación Administradora del Acueducto Rural (Asada) de Paso Ancho-Boquerón. Entre los contenidos del programa se encuentran la importancia del ciclo hidrológico, el compostaje y la prevención de la erosión. Quienes se encargan de impartir las lecciones son especialistas de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR).

“En los talleres hablamos de conceptos básicos de organismos consumidores y productores, importancia del reciclaje, el manejo de residuos orgánicos e inorgánicos, técnicas para la prevención de la erosión, uso racional del agua potable, importancia de la biodiversidad.

Hacemos demostraciones con microorganismos benéficos (lombrices, hongos, bacterias), colores, texturas y propiedades del suelo, cenizas, arcillas… y arte con suelo”, manifestó Arabela Vega, agrónoma de la UCR.

Desde junio hasta la fecha se han realizado jornadas de capacitación en tres centros educativos del proyecto. El 20 de noviembre le corresponderá a la Escuela Santa Rosa, en Oreamuno de Cartago, recibir el taller en sus instalaciones.

El proyecto se lleva a cabo en conjunto con la Asociación Costarricense de la Ciencia del Suelo (ACCS), la cual detalló que Cartago se escogió para dar las capacitaciones por ser uno de los lugares más productivos del país a nivel agrícola.
